GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Alpenhorns, pretzels and traditional German beer. This can only mean one thing. Oktoberfest! The much awaited festival will be kicking off the fun on Friday, September 25th at John Ball Park in Grand Rapids. Beer lovers from around the state will gather to revel in the great food, music, and of course, beer.
Oktoberfest West Michigan will be pouring up plenty of traditional German beer on tap, as well as bottled beer. If your craving some hearty German food to compliment your beer, they’ve got that covered too! There will be fresh Wienerschnitzel Brötchen (veal sandwiches), Schweinsbraten Semmel (pork sandwiches), Bratwurst, Sauerkraut and Apfel Strudel (apple strudel), for anyone with a sweet tooth.
But don’t worry, there is plenty of family fun to be had at Oktoberfest! In addition to the Der Gut German Band and Edelweiss Choir playing throughout the day there will be games and activities for both children and adults, including a traditional German Barrel Role, a stein holding competition and even a soccer tournament.
Whether you go for the annual Oktoberfest Pretzel, to find a new favorite beer, or simply to bask in the tradition and heritage, you are sure to have a ball this weekend at one of West Michigan’s most exciting festivals. You won’t want to miss it!
Festivities start Friday September 25th at Noon, at John Ball Park and will continue through Saturday Night.
