GRAND RAPIDS, MI — On this weekend’s “Behind the Mitten” segment on WZZM-TV 13 with Jennifer Pascua, our very own Amy Sherman was at Grand Traverse Pie Co. to talk about National Pie Day (Jan. 23), and other events taking place throughout the state.
Amy also talks about (video below):
- the Harlem Globetrotters in West Michigan,
- the movie-and-a-beer series at Stormcloud Brewing in Frankfort with a showing of the Amy Winehouse documentary “Amy,”
- Hopcat’s annual crack fry eating contest (which is at 3 p.m. Jan, 23),
- and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
As for National Pie Day at Grand Traverse Pie Company:
All 15 locations throughout the state (including one in Indiana) will offer a free slice of fruit pie with any purchase.
The company is also launching a new pie variety on Saturday. We can’t say much about it. But word has it that everyone is buzzing about it. It for sure will feature all Michigan products, according to Mike Busley of Grand Traverse Pie Company.
