Beer of the Week August 22 Perrin

Amy and John at Perrin Brewing

Gaylord, Michigan- This weeks show took place up in Gaylord Michigan with our good friend Paul Beachnau.  Paul is the expert on all things Gaylord, as he runs the tourism bureau up there.  You can check out what he’s working on here.  He’s also something of  a craft beer expert (drinker!), so we let him take the reigns this week for Beer of the Week.  Working in conjunction with our OTHERgreat friend up that way, Gabe Bober, who is the food and beverage director at Treetops Resort, Paul picked a great beer.

Perrin Brewing has tons of great beers, we in fact picked the Blackberry IPA a few weeks ago as our beer of the week.  These two went for a classic summer refresher that you have to grab NOW to try, because it will soon be gone, as it is a seasonal brew.  Grapefruit IPA just about screams summer.

Grapefruit IPAJohn and I got to visit Perrin a few weeks ago, and I had to have one.  It is tart, crisp and so refreshing.  It kind of hits you in the face with a burst of grapefruit, but the lovely hops of the IPA base make it so the beer is never overwhelming or cloying.  Seriously a summer beer, and summer is not over, so make the most of it and drain those kegs around the state before switching to your fall brew.

While we were at Perrin, Connor gave us a tour of the brewery.  Big changes are happening up in Comstock Park!

The big news is that Perrin will soon be offering CANS for distribution!  We’ve been waiting for this announcement for a long time and can now report that September 14 is the big day!  Right now you can pick up cans at the brewery, but soon you’ll be able to grab them all over Grand Rapids.  To start, Perrin will be distributing their Perrin Gold, Black and 98 Problems IPA.

John and I will be helping celebrate this release with a special happy hour we are hosting at Kingmas Market on September 14.  Make plans to join us!  They’ll have the whole line up of cans from Perrin there, plus you can check out all the other great goods at the market and even pick up dinner for the night.  John and I will be sampling the beer with you, so don’t miss this fun event.
