Finally! It’s time for the much awaited annual Brew Ha-Ha craft beer festival in Grand Rapids. With over 150 craft brews to choose from, Amy and John have made our lives easier by picking out their top five to try this Friday and Saturday at The DeltaPlex!
1.Dragonmead- Final Absolution – Belgian Trippel full of big Belgian flavor, lots of banana and clove, but balanced with a nice addition of hops. Watch out it’s 10 percent, and it’s one of Amy’s favorites from this Warren, Michigan brewery.
2. Pigeon Hill– Oatmeal Creme Pie (from Muskegon) – Not always available, this one has vanilla, oats, sweet malt and guess what, tastes like oatmeal creme pie. Brewed up as a challenge from the owners wife.
3. Brooklyn Beer- Sorachi Ace – A saison, unfiltered farmhouse style ale. But brewed with the very unique Sorachi hop, which has notes of lemon and herbs, this beer is crisp, dry and sharp. Used to only be a brewer’s reserve beer, and hard to get, they loved it so much they brought it into the regular line up. Should be a very unique beer.
4. Sierra Nevada- Otre Vez – Amy loves this style and you rarely see it, light fresh tart, with a hint of salt. This one has grapefruit and prickly pear cactus in it! Crazy, but a note of the tropics for a cold winter day.
5. Founders-Azacca IPA – A big IPA, with 70 IBU’s and 7.0 ABV. Founder’s says it has notes of mango and citrus. Named after the Haitian god of agriculture. Save this one for last, those hops will finish off your palate for the night.
Be sure to try these five and many more at this weekends Brew Ha Ha!
